About White Christmas Tree Farm & Nursery

The White Christmas Tree Farm & Nursery was established in 1981 with a first planting of Douglas Fir, Noble Fir, Grand Fir, and Colorado Spruce. The Farm is located approximately six miles east of Silverton, bordered on one side by the Abiqua Creek and is entered off Abiqua Rd NE. It took approximately 6-7 years for the trees to mature with the farm first opening to choose and cut buyers during the harvest of 1988.

For the next six years (1988-1994) customers were able to choose and cut their Christmas tree and the farm also provided smaller trees as "live" (B&B) Christmas trees. Over 500 customers would drive to the farm to select their special holiday tree. During these years customers were served by members of the White family, including Chuck, Sara, Tony, Heather, Kathleen, and Jennifer White. In addition, students from Silverton High School worked on the farm from Thanksgiving weekend through the third week in December.

The second planting took place in 1994 and has continued each year to provide a supply of trees that are maturing throughout the farm over a period of 6-8 years depending on their variety. The second planting focused on Grand Fir, although plantings of Noble and Douglas Fir have also been added to provide greater variety for choose and cut buyers. During this time trees were wholesaled to businesses and retail Christmas tree lots. In 2003, the White Christmas Tree Farm & Nursery opened choose and cut sales to the public on a limited basis. In 2004 with the White family grown, a partnership with Boy Scout Troop #485 was established to work the farm during the first three weekends in December where profits from choose and cut tree sales are divided equally after expenses.
